M554 was one of our selections from the 2003 Beckton
sale. M554 adapted well to our KY/TN conditions, particularly showing a short, thin hair coat and having the ability to thrive and do well on fescue pastures during warm weather. M554 is a moderate framed, easy fleshing cow with an excellent udder that has done everything we have asked her to do reproductively. The footnote in the Beckton sale catalog stated, "Barmaid M554 is a beautiful heifer with beautiful EPDs out of a dam with beautiful production averages." M554 is another cow that we consider near ideal for frame size, growth pattern, and fleshing ability.
Below we will outline the extensive influence of this cow at Red Hill Farms.

54P is a daughter of the M554 cow above. She needs no introduction to followers of the Red Hill program, as she is the dam of our 2008 Lot 1 bull , 101S, 2009 Lot 2 bull ,126T, and 2010 Lots 1,3 4, and 7 bulls, 105U, 110U, 106U and 1W. (See Red Hill Red Angus Herd Sire page). 54P
also had sons and daughters of Beckton Nebula P093 which sold on
March 19, 2011.
54P is a very fertile cow that has been flushed and always stayed in the same calving season. In the Fall of 2009, 54P calved October 23 and backed up to calve August 24, 2010. 54P's 3 natural calves have posted the following ratios - 113 WWR, 108 YWR, 105 %IMF, 109 REA. 54P is a unique cow in that she is easy fleshing and big volumed and is unique in her short, thin hair coat which makes her ideal for the southern climate.
Watch for her calves in the future!

We purchased M682 in the 2003 Spring Sale at Beckton's. M682 has been a solid and consistent producer in our herd. Her influence will be seen through her daughters and granddaughters. M682 will be
10 in April 2012 and continues to reproduce regularly. She is nursing a 17P
October 2011 heifer calf. The Vernice cow family continues to grow in our herd, and we will outline M682's influence below.

As we studied the cattle at the Buffalo Creek Dispersal, we concluded that P154 was phenotypically the most outstanding cow in the sale. We had admired P154 since we first saw her in the Fall of 2008 when we purchased her son, BUF CRK Nice'n Easy T189, as one of the highlights of Buffalo Creek's 2008 sale. This cow is definitely the front pasture kind.
"We have had more inquiries about this cow than any other in the offering, and rightfully so once you lay your eyes on her. She is the epitome of the program... She is also a prime example of what her rare and unique sire, Julian B571, does best." (Buffalo Creek Dispersal catalog, 2010)
P154
calved with a R017 bull calf in the Spring of 2011 and
is now a Red Hill Farms donor.
As you can see from studying our website, we have tremendous confidence in the B571 cattle. As we continue our linebreeding program, we feel P154 and Amy M172 (listed below) each bring in outcross genetics on the bottom side of their pedigree that will allow us to continue this linebreeding program while keeping the inbreeding coefficients to a minimum.
P154's dam, 9005, was a great producer at Buffalo Creek before going into their E.T. program. She weaned 10 calves with a 105 WWR that then posted a 106 YWR. 9005 was a tightly linebred Chief-bred cow from the Roberts program in New Mexico.

As you can tell by her EPDs, this cow is about numbers! Let us share her ratios. Her individual ratios were as follows - BW 60 lbs/86, WW 583/102, YW 870/111, %IMF 4.39/155, and REA 9.11/117. M172 also has posted impressive progeny ratios - BW
8/83, WW 6/103, YW 6/101, %IMF 6/117, and REA 6/106.
For our internet search friends, go do the searches and no cow compares to M172. Her data is so unique she had to come to Red Hill Farms.
M172
calved in the Spring of 2011 with a Lancer R017 heifer calf. She
has now entered the Red Hill donor program. |
