Red Hill Farms is a family farm that consists of 100 purebred sows, 250 Red Angus and Simmental cows, and 140 acres of burley tobacco. The Jones' swine operation provides breeding stock to customers across the United States and foreign countries. Red Hill Farms' cattle herd utilizes artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and extensive performance data to produce bulls and females for their annual bull and female sale each March. Burley tobacco is a growing enterprise - from 6 acres in 1998 to 140 acres in 2010. The newest venture at Red Hill Farms is the retail marketing of Premium Duroc Pork and Grain-Fed Angus Beef to local consumers.
Both Sarah and Bart are deeply-rooted in agriculture. Sarah was reared on a 4th generation dairy farm and was very active in 4-H and FFA activities. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant. Sarah manages financial records, cattle records, advertising, retail marketing, as well as her CPA practice. Bart grew up in the purebred swine seedstock industry, resulting in an active 4-H swine project. When Bart graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1996, he came back to the farm to raise pigs. He quickly learned that diversification would make the farm more profitable. Today, the farm produces hogs, cattle, tobacco, corn, and hay. Bart manages day-to-day farming operations and computerized swine records. Additionally, 3-year old Ty and his Uncle Mike have a large garden, laying hens, rabbits, and country hams. Bart, Sarah and Ty enjoy farm life, cherish friendships developed in agriculture, and also take time to enjoy house boating and waterskiing.
